Slanted story
Fellow editing professor Bill Cloud passed this one along. It's from the Times-Dispatch in Richmond, Va.

I've heard of putting an angle on a story, but this is ridiculous — and hideous. I blame the ad department, not the page designer.

I dunno. Someone on the copy/design desk should have prevented that from reaching print.

I would be more appalled with this if I hadn't already seen it – in my own paper. We ran an ad like this a couple of times last year in our leads section. The only thing I can say is that it's not nearly as appalling there as it is here – adjacent to a news story.
